The Garden (2008)

An unflinching look at the struggle between urban farmers, the City of Los Angeles and a powerful developer (Horowitz) who wants to evict them and build warehouses.

Mostly about a group of immigrants from Latin American countries where they feared for their lives if they were to speak out. We watch them organise, stand up for themselves in the face of oppression.  In their fight they demand “Where is the ‘Justice for all’?” — highlighting the difference between what people believe, and what America is really like.

Some of dialogue is Spanish only, with some poor audio in parts. But the tale is not hard to follow, and for you who are interested in issues surrounding local food and community gardens, is well worth the watch.
